While hitting the big city with your four-legged friends may seem challenging, Atlanta has its fair share of green spaces perfect for pets. Follow the Atlanta city ordinance by keeping your pet leashed in public spaces, but then head to one of the town’s great dog parks, such as Freedom Barkway Dog Park, to let your canine run free.
Atlanta’s Dog-Friendly Destination
Freedom Barkway offers two acres of green expanse perfect for your dog to get all the exercise he needs. Meet some of the other dogs and owners at this popular space located in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Owners can enjoy playing with their pets and then take a break on one of the benches positioned throughout the park. Your pet can enjoy meeting and playing with canines his own size, with dogs separated into small dog (under 30 pounds) and large dog (over 30 pounds) zones. Meet other dog-loving pet owners and join in on some of the pet-friendly activities hosted or advertised by the park. Holiday events at the park and gatherings at the nearby Condesa Coffee, where dogs are welcomed with free dog treats and patio seating, are just a couple of the pet-friendly events offered by Freedom Barkway.
