Umi

Umi is an eatery that specializes in Japanese food, giving locals and visitors alike their fix of delicious upscale Japanese cuisine in a sleek, modern environment located in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. For more information on what makes Umi worth visiting, read on below!

Umi: Japanese Cuisine in the Heart of Atlanta

Nestled in Buckhead just a short drive north of Downtown Atlanta, Umi is a fine dining Japanese restaurant where you and your guests can savor the flavors of gourmet Japanese dishes in a refined, contemporary setting.

The menu at Umi  begins with a decadent selection of starter dishes, from Monk Fish liver pate and tuna carpaccio to salmon yuzuviche and uni tempura. The Otoro tartare is adorned with tomari and caviar, with the hirame usuzukuri incorporates thin slices of flounder sashimi with ponzu.

From there, your next step in the culinary journey are the soups and salads that Umi has to offer. The osuimono soup with whitefish is particularly good, as is the seaweed and cucumber salad with amazu, a traditional Japanese sweet and sour salad.

The gourmet sushi rolls at Umi range from Americanized classics like the California roll and the rainbow roll to traditional rolls such as futomaki and una-kyu maki, indulgent nigiri, and melt-in-your-mouth sashimi.

Despite the popularity of their sushi, it’s far from the only food that Umi has to offer. Try duck or tuna foie gras, black cod misoyaki, lobster toban-yaki, seared diver scallops, chicken teriyaki, baked lobster tempura, or Chilean sea bass yu-an yaki.

Umi is open for dinner on Monday through Saturday, from 5:30pm – 10:00pm on Monday through Thursday and from 5:30pm – 11:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

You’ll encounter Umi near Buckhead Village at 3050 Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. You can also make reservations or learn more about the restaurant by calling (404) 841-0040, emailing info@umiatlanta.com, or asking one of our representatives at Atlanta Luxury Rentals.

Whether you’ve always loved sushi or are trying it for the first time, Umi gives guests an authentic experience in Asian flavors and pairings that are bound to please and inspire. When those dining here are looking for more options to explore the neighborhood, the opportunities truly abound! Travelers that just can’t wait to maximize their Atlanta adventure will find that adding the following few fun stops to the itinerary works wonders when it comes to making the most of every moment.

Atlanta History Center

While it’s easy to get swept up in the vibrant culture that defines modern Atlanta, this is a city that comes with a rich, and often complicated past that’s worth exploring. Once you’ve satisfied your cravings for delectable sushi options at Umi, you can head up the street to 130 West Paces Ferry Road NW where time can be enjoyed exploring the Atlanta History Center. The Atlanta History Center is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, providing a versatile range of time options for a visit. This one of a kind center highlights the city’s role in the antebellum era through a variety of exhibits and displays that are both permanent and revolving. Those looking to enjoy stepping into a past come to life will appreciate the fact that this history center includes access to a replicated farm showing life in Atlanta in the mid-19th century. This lifestyle duplication includes a smokehouse and a blacksmith shop.

Buckhead Theatre

When the place where live performance and history collide puts your travel plans over the top, planning to enjoy time at the iconic Buckhead Theatre is a must while you’re in Atlanta. Just up the road from Umi Sushi, the Buckhead Theatre is located at 3110 Roswell Road NE and is easy to identify thanks to its eye-catching marquee signage. The Buckhead Theatre is constructed in line with art deco stylings and first opened in Atlanta back in 1931. Since that time, it continues to be a fan-favorite destination for taking in performances of all types from live acts to big-name bands. Be sure to check the event calendar before you arrive in Atlanta to purchase tickets in advance when you can’t wait to be a part of the Buckhead Theatre tradition.
